Nexus Associates have worked on new build schemes within the private, health and education sectors and have a 14 year record in working within construction.
We worked in the Schools Academies programme at its inception back in 2002, later within BSF and the primary capital programme. We have worked with Partnership for schools and we are currently working on the Priority School Build Programme (PSBP) with the EFA Education Funding Agency.
Our role on new build and refurbishment schemes is to ensure that ICT is fully discussed at the planning and design stages and then integrated into the overall building design.
Although we coordinate with M&E our involvement differs quite considerably in that we provide specialist ICT input i.e. in relation to size and location of server and hub rooms; compliant specifications in relation to passive cabling and active network equipment (core and edge switches) and configuration and scoping of data requirements to support all IP based devices; i.e. telephony; CCTV, AV, BMS, Computers, access control etc.
At all times during the planning and design stages Nexus ensure that design teams have a full understanding of the ICT functional intentions. In addition we ensure the coordination and integration requirements with M&E and furniture design are highlighted; along with ICTs relevance and impact on the building design in meeting the overall user objectives.
Nexus Associates has a defined benefits lead methodology for delivering its projects, which are tailored to meet specific project requirement. These are documented in our Project Initiation Document to ensure adherence to the client brief. This enables our consultants to be clear with regard to project controls, roles & responsibilities, engagement, and communication resulting in reduced risks and costs, whilst delivering coordinated and successful projects
